Digital Video discussion at National media Market, Oct. 7, 2007

A packed room of librarians and vendors made for a lively discussion of the many issues and questions that surround digital video delivery.

It was clear that there are many competing needs, and that there is no one solution that will work for all library types.  About the only thing that all could agree on was that the Digital world is here and there is nothing to do to stop it, so we should work with vendors to ask for what we want.

Since things start up at 8 each morning, how about 6:30 am? 30 minutes around the neighborhood...and that leaves us with an hour to get ready for the professional part of the day. I'll be sure to leave you each a message on Sunday evening, but otherwise, let's plan to meet in the lobby at 6:30 am. And, feel free to invite others. (No worries, Bob, I'm sure those long legs of your's can out distance my old legs any day! I am not quick ...but I am steady...) Truth is, I need to know that I have a walking "date" in the morning, or I talk myself into staying in bed an extra 1/2 hour... So, thanks for being my motivation! See you soon!

I would like encourage anyone interested to attend the Digital Delivery Discussion group to be held at the 2007 NMM. Last year I moderated the discussion of over 50 attendees at the NMM. Last years discussion ranged from how agencies were addressing their implemetation strategies, to how they were purchasing digital content and the concerns/issues they were finding in working with different companies. Another area of discussion was the current state of technological change and who is doing the latest and the greatest.
